In short
Poland has no startup or digital nomad visa, and Poland Business Harbour is suspended (it never covered Americans). US founders have three practical routes: a sole proprietorship (JDG) registered like a Pole under the 1990 US–Poland business treaty; a company — a sp. z o.o. (PLN 5,000 capital, online via S24 for PLN 350) or a startup-friendly PSA (PLN 1) — plus a residence permit for business, which needs income of 12 times the regional average wage or 2 employees; or a job and work permit while you build. Companies pay 19%, or 9% with revenue up to €2 million, and qualifying IP income can be taxed at 5%. PARP's Startups Exchange offers up to PLN 100,000 to Polish startups. US owners usually file Form 5471 and should plan for NCTI.

Overview
Launching Your Startup in Poland
Poland combines low costs, a large pool of engineers and a fast online company registry. You can form a company online through S24 without a notary, choose a PSA designed for startups, and pay 9% corporate tax while revenue stays under €2 million.
What Poland lacks is a dedicated founder visa. Plan your residence alongside your company — and remember that permits can take 6–12 months or more in the big cities.
For an American founder in Poland the first decision is simple — sole proprietorship under the treaty, or a company with a business permit.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does Poland have a startup visa?
No. Founders use a residence permit for business, a work permit or Blue Card, or — for Americans — a sole proprietorship under the 1990 treaty plus a residence permit.
Is Poland Business Harbour still available?
No. It was suspended on 26 January 2024 and never covered US citizens.
Do I need a notary to set up a company?
Not if you use the S24 online system with standard articles (PLN 350 in fees). A notary is only needed for custom articles.
What is the corporate tax rate?
19%, or 9% for small taxpayers with revenue up to €2 million (not on passive income). Estonian CIT taxes only distributed profit at 10% or 20%.
Can a US LLC own a company under Estonian CIT?
No — Estonian CIT requires all shareholders to be individuals.
