There are two routes to the Latvia Digital Nomad Visa. Both require proof of stable remote income above the minimum threshold.

You work for a company based in an OECD country — a US employer qualifies. You must have been employed by the same employer for at least 6 months before applying, with documented remote work capability and monthly income at or above €4,213 gross.

Self-Employed / Business Owner

You own and operate a business registered in the US or another OECD country. You must demonstrate at least 6 months of business income at or above the €4,213 monthly threshold, evidenced through tax authority documents or equivalent financial records.
The €4,213 Income Threshold
Your monthly income must be at least €4,213 gross. This figure equals 2.5× the Latvian average gross salary and is recalculated annually, so verify the current amount before applying. For a US remote worker or freelancer earning above roughly $55,000 per year, this threshold is typically straightforward to meet.
What counts as income
Gross salary from your US employer, or gross business income if self-employed. The requirement is on gross (pre-tax) income, not net. Dividends, rental income, or investment returns are generally not accepted as qualifying income for this visa type.
How to document it
Employees: provide your last 3–6 months of payslips, a letter from your employer confirming remote work and salary, and tax/social insurance records. Self-employed: tax authority documents showing at least 6 months of income at the required level. All documents may require official translation into Latvian.
Annual recalculation
