Why Spain

What Americans Love About Spain

Beyond the sunshine — the real reasons Americans choose Spain.

24% Flat Tax for Digital Nomads
Spain's Digital Nomad Visa includes the Beckham Law — a flat 24% income tax rate for up to 6 years on income up to €600,000. For Americans earning in USD while living in Spain, this is one of Europe's most compelling tax advantages.
Digital Nomad Visa (Most Popular in Europe)
Spain's DNV launched in 2023 and quickly became Europe's most applied-for digital nomad permit. Requires approximately €2,849/month net income as of 2026, 1 year renewable up to 5 years total, and can be applied for from within Spain.
Non-Lucrative Visa for Retirees
The NLV is a beloved pathway for American retirees — stable passive income of €2,400/month, private health insurance, and you can live in Spain year-round (now with a reinstated 183-day/year minimum stay for renewal). 1 year renewable, leads to PR after 5 years.
Mediterranean Lifestyle
Spain offers 3,000+ hours of sunshine per year on the coasts, world-class cuisine (tapas, paella, jamón), flamenco, football, festivals, and a genuine work-life balance culture that Americans find transformative.
Diverse Destinations
From cosmopolitan Madrid and Barcelona to Málaga's digital nomad scene, Valencia's beaches and food, the Canary Islands' eternal spring, and Andalusia's historic charm — Spain has a lifestyle for every American.

Barcelona

The Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria)

How It Works

From Decision to Your Spain Residence Permit

We guide you through every step — from first consultation to settled life in Spain.

1
Book a free consultation
We assess your situation — digital nomad, retiree, entrepreneur, employed professional, or student — and identify your optimal Spanish visa pathway.
2
Prepare documents 4–6 months early
Gather apostilled FBI background check, medical certificate, financial proof, and certified Spanish translations. Spanish consular requirements are strict and processing times are long.
3
Apply at Spanish Consulate in the US
Non-Lucrative Visa must be applied for at a Spanish Consulate before travel. Digital Nomad Visa can be applied for in Spain or at the consulate. Allow 2–4 months for processing.
4
Get your NIE and register (Empadronamiento)
Upon arrival, obtain your NIE (Número de Identidad de Extranjero) and register on the municipal padron (empadronamiento). These are required for banking, healthcare, and all administrative processes.
5
Obtain TIE and set up essentials
Apply for your TIE (Foreigner Identity Card), open a Spanish bank account, arrange health insurance, and register with the tax authority (AEAT) if needed — especially to apply for the Beckham Law tax benefit.
